Indian Police Dismantle Crypto Investment Scam Ring, Detain Four
Indian authorities have arrested four individuals involved in a fraudulent cryptocurrency investment scheme that defrauded a victim of Rs. 16.30 lakh ($17,787). The scammers lured the target with promises of high returns through a fake mobile application, pressuring him to invest under false pretenses.
The operation began in September 2025 when the perpetrators contacted the victim via WhatsApp, presenting fabricated profit proofs to gain trust. After convincing him to download a malicious trading app, they siphoned funds through multiple bank transfers over several months.
Cyber Crime Police registered the case in November 2025 and swiftly initiated investigations. The crackdown highlights growing concerns over crypto-related fraud in India's rapidly digitizing financial landscape.
